Madis Zink, CEO of the Schaeffler Group Automotive Technology Division, said: “With the innovative wheel hub drive system, Schaeffler has provided an innovative solution for small and light electric utility vehicles in cities. The main feature of the Fleur hub motor is that the system integrates all the components required for driving and braking into the rim rather than being placed or mounted on the transaxle.”
This compact structure not only saves space, but also makes the vehicle more flexible and easier to maneuver in the city. The in-wheel motor is driven by pure electricity with low noise, and the urban multi-purpose vehicle adopting this technology runs very quietly, which reduces the noise pollution in pedestrian areas and city streets, because the disturbance to residents is very small, and also prolongs the operation in residential areas time.
This year, the Swiss utility vehicle manufacturer Jungo will be one of the first customers to introduce a utility vehicle with a Schaeffler wheel drive system to the market. Schaeffler and Jungo worked closely together to develop customized wheel drive technology according to the actual daily needs of commercial street cleaning.
