Recently, it was reported that Xiaomi’s first car will be a sedan, and it has been confirmed that Hesai Technology will provide Lidar for Xiaomi cars, and the price is expected to exceed 300,000 yuan. From the price point of view, the Xiaomi car will be different from the Xiaomi mobile phone’s approach to the people, and the Xiaomi car will move towards high-end.
It is reported that the Xiaomi Automobile Headquarters Base has settled in Yizhuang in November last year, and will build a vehicle factory with a cumulative annual output of 300,000 vehicles in two phases; the first phase is scheduled to start in April 2022, and the second phase is scheduled to start in March 2024. After construction starts, Xiaomi’s first car will be rolled off the assembly line and mass-produced in 2024.
At present, Xiaomi’s engineering vehicle has been completed, and it is expected that the software integration of the engineering vehicle will be completed around mid-October. In terms of software, Xiaomi has established an elite R&D team of more than 500 people, and has formulated a strategic technology layout for full-stack self-research. It has successively invested in related companies such as Zongmu Technology and Geometry Partners, and acquired Shendong Technology, a self-driving technology company, with a wholly-owned capital of 500 million yuan, and identified the lidar supplier as Hesai Technology.
