Tesla FSD raises price by $2,200 to $12,800 in Canada, beta version to be released this week

On May 6, more than a month after expanding its Full Self-Driving (FSD) testing program to Canada, Tesla increased the price of the FSD feature option in northern Canada. The price of this optional feature has risen by $2,200 to $12,800 from $10,600.

After opening the FSD Beta (Full Self-Driving Beta) to the Canadian market in March, Tesla will also complete the layout of this feature in the European market this year. Tesla will submit the FSD Beta to European regulators within 2-3 months, but local development of the FSD Beta is more challenging due to differences in language and road markings across European countries.

On May 7, Tesla CEO Elon Must said that the next version of Tesla’s FSD Beta (10.12) is another step toward a unified vector space for all neural networks that use surround video and coordinate output to control code. It will improve performance through complex intersections in heavy traffic. Tesla has made several upgrades to the core code, so debugging issues will take longer. That version could be released this week. FSD Beta was first released in October 2020, and it was the first to be promoted in the US market, and dozens of versions have been updated so far.

In the finale interview of the TED 2022 conference on April 14, Musk revealed that Tesla will achieve fully autonomous driving (level 5) this year. It emphasized that achieving full self-driving means that Tesla can drive in most cities without human intervention.
