General Motors Co. and Hertz Global Holdings have reached an agreement through which GM will sell 175,000 all-electric vehicles to Hertz over the next five years.
It is reported that the order includes pure electric vehicles from brands such as Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and BrightDrop. Hertz estimates that over the term of the agreement, its customers can drive more than 8 billion miles in these electric vehicles, which will reduce carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to about 3.5 million tons compared to similar gasoline-powered vehicles.
Hertz expects to begin accepting deliveries of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV in the first quarter of 2023. Hertz aims to turn a quarter of its fleet into pure electric vehicles by the end of 2024.
”Our partnership with Hertz is a huge step forward in reducing emissions and adopting electric vehicles, which will help GM create thousands of new pure-play vehicles,” GM CEO Mary Barra said in a statement.
